ILSHRM Student Conference – Culture as a Key to Success,  Capitalizing on Diverse Identities

The ILSHRM Student Conference – HR Games & Case Competition is an exciting and unique opportunity for students across the state to learn, connect with their peers, and participate in a competitive HR challenge.

The Student Conference has three main objectives:

  • To provide a forum where students can experience real world problems through case preparations and learn from diverse perspectives
  • To encourage relationships between students and faculty from schools around the state
  • To provide an opportunity for industry professionals to witness future HR leaders

This year, the conference will be held on March 29 – 30, 2019 at the Illinois State University University.

HR Games

Teams of students will test their academic knowledge answering HR related questions in a fun, laid-back format.  Over multiple rounds in Jeopardy-style game format, students will answer questions on HR-related topics.

Case Competition

Teams compete to deliver the best solution to an HR-related business case.   The case competition provides the opportunity to develop capabilities in finding strategic solutions to a real-life business issue.

How does it work?

Students participating in the Case Competition must designate a team captain to register the team using the Student Conference and Case Competition option.  The team captain will receive the HR Case Scenario and the team will have two weeks to submit their proposed solution in a PowerPoint presentation and return via email.

  • Each school may have a maximum of two teams compete in the Case Competition.

Students not participating in the Case Competition will register using the Student Conference option, and will engage with speakers on current topics and trends in HR.

Faculty/Chapter Advisors will register using the Faculty/Chapter Advisor option.
